The Stability Of Cathode Electrophoresis Bath Is Higher Than That Of Anode Electrophoresis Bath

In the process of cathodic electrophoresis, the coating at the cathode does not undergo electrochemical oxidation, and only hydrogen is precipitated instead of oxygen. No matter what kind of metal the coating is, there will be no dissolution of the metal surface. The chemical transformation film on the surface of the metal such as phosphating will not dissolve. In addition, the deposited film is alkaline and passivates the metal surface. Therefore, the corrosion resistance of the coated metal is significantly enhanced. The results show that the corrosion resistance of electrophoresis coated with negative electrode is 3 to 4 times that of electrophoresis coated with anode under the same surface treatment. The corrosion resistance of the cathodic electrophoresis coating is better than that of the anodic electrophoresis coating of the steel without phosphating treatment.

The stability of cathodic electrophoresis bath is higher than that of anodic electrophoresis bath, which is easy to control in the production process and not susceptible to the influence of impurity ions, which is of great significance for continuous automatic production. In addition, the cathodic electrophoresis coating is better than the anodic electrophoresis coating after curing. Suitable for topcoat.

Anodic electrophoretic paint uses organic amines as neutralizing agent, which has definite toxicity to human body and requires strong ventilation facilities, while cathodic electrophoretic paint uses organic acids as neutralizing agent, which reduces toxicity to some degree.

After cathodic electrophoresis, the mechanical strength and adhesive force of wet paint were significantly higher than that of anodic electrophoresis paint. Therefore, in the process of washing, can withstand greater pressure and the collision of other objects. This can be very beneficial for some manual coating lines.

The disadvantage of cathodic electrophoresis process is that the coating is relatively expensive, and the pH value of the bath solution is acidic, which is corrosive to the equipment. As a result, many parts of the equipment need to be made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, which inevitably leads to higher equipment costs.

In spite of these disadvantages, the application of cathodic electrophoretic coatings will be more and more widely due to its outstanding advantages.
